IRM registers new case in Uganda
Incheon, 19 December 2024 – The Independent Redress Mechanism (IRM) has registered a new case, C0011 Uganda, related to GCF project FP034, “Building Resilient Communities, Wetland Ecosystems, and Associated Catchments in Uganda.”
The complaint pertains to a drowning incident that occurred on 29 September 2024 at a water retention facility in the Rukiga District of Uganda. During the Eligibility Determination, family members expressed several concerns regarding the ongoing harm they are experiencing due to the loss of life.
On 13 December 2024, the IRM determined the complaint to be eligible. As part of the Initial Steps phase, the IRM team will engage with the complainants to better understand the issues raised and to provide further information about the next steps in the complaint process.
